I knew then that I would miss Thailand, leaving the place where I had become comfortable, so much so that it became another bubble. The days felt remarkably slow at times, and I wish I did more to fill up those hours, but it gave me time to spend on long walks in the heat and humidity, run around the neighborhood with the chickens and the motorcyclists passing me by.

I was protected at the student center, spoon fed almost, with such a loving host mom like older sister to make delicious meals, teach me about life, and to chat with like a friend. My students, some of whom cried when we said our goodbyes and made my heart melt (the other ones laughed).
A lot of aspects may not be so glamorous here, but past the tourism and illicit acts, underneath all that is a people who are looking to make themselves known to the world. Chiang Mai, I will be back one day. You’ll always hold a special place in my heart. On to the next adventure!
No more sitting in the back trunk without seat belts..or even seats.
