Our tour guide, Dave, wasn’t a stickler to the schedule, so he directed the bus driver to take some detours to let us take some pictures of gorgeous sights such as these. The mountain peaks above is called the Three Sisters. The story goes that a father went to a witch for help to find suitors for his daughters, (since all the men were getting killed in battle), so naturally, she turned them into mountains so their beauty was preserved for all eternity. Cheerful.
After this weekend, spending all day in a coach gazing at these sights listening to Scottish music, I think I understand folk music a bit better now.
CairnGorn Mountains: The highest point in all of the UK. It was October and people were already skiing here! I could hardly stand without being knocked over by the wind and losing my balance. The gloves, layers, beanies and warm drinks still could not keep me warm up here.

The child in me can never stop the urge to climb things so, when our tour guide let us go into this old castle, Urquhart, after hours-naturally, we all climbed around the walls as we gazed over the loch (say that with as much cccckkkkk sound as you can). I will miss you lochy loch-yes I am quite serious, it’s actually called “lakey lake.”

The height and majesty of these trees left us standing in awe by simply looking up. The lovely lady in red was my personal photographer for the weekend, and though we met this weekend in Scotland, we discovered we had a mutual friend who was my roommate back in Claremont. Traveling does make this world smaller and smaller, but the more I discover, the more I want to see.
“the wood that wanders…”

Lads and Lassies, how beautiful is Scotland?
